The Book of Witnessing
Every Story Matters. Every Story Deserves to Be Witnessed.
Throughout every House of Story Medicine retreat, participants are invited to contribute to our collective Book of Witnessing — a living journal that captures the heart of our shared experience.
Unlike a personal journal, this is a sacred community keepsake.
Throughout the week, women are invited to write as inspiration arises. Some may write a memory from childhood, a letter to themselves, a poem, a reflection after a ceremony, a lesson learned beside the ocean, a prayer, or simply a few heartfelt words that capture a moment of transformation.
There is no expectation to write every day, and no pressure to share more than feels right.
Each contribution becomes part of a collective story — a beautiful tapestry of voices, experiences, courage, compassion, laughter, grief, hope, and healing.
At the conclusion of the retreat, these reflections are lovingly curated into a beautifully designed digital Book of Witnessing, gifted to every participant as a lasting reminder of the journey they shared together. Alongside the writings, it includes photographs, memorable moments, meaningful quotes, and the collective spirit of the week, creating a keepsake that can be revisited long after the retreat has ended.
For many women, this becomes far more than a memory.
Months later, they often return to these pages and discover that a story first whispered during the retreat is still asking to be told.
For those who feel called to continue their journey, The House of Story Medicine offers the opportunity to expand those early reflections into something more — whether that is a collaborative anthology, a personal memoir, a family legacy book, or another creative expression of their story.
With more than seventeen years of publishing experience and over 300 authors guided into print, Julie Ann gently supports participants who wish to continue that next chapter.
There is never an expectation to publish.
Only an invitation, should your story be ready.
Because every story matters.
Every story deserves to be witnessed.
And every story has the power to heal.
